"My son started in Form 1 and he absolutely loves it, he is pleased tobe part of the Mill School family atmosphere. He has gained so much confidence in his time at the Mill.

The school is not solely concerned with getting good exam results, it is a school for everyone where the social and caring sides are as important as academic achievement."

About us

Based at Potterne, near Devizes, the school was established in 1958 and is set in 4 acres of grounds, amidst beautiful countryside.

Largely contained in an eighteenth century water mill, traceable to the Domesday Book, The Mill School is a co-educational independent preparatory day school for children aged 3-11 years. The school has seven separate forms, one for each school year, with a maximum of sixteen pupils per form and a purpose-built nursery.

Note from the Head

"My association with The Mill School started when my own daughter commenced here as a pupil. During this time I have seen many children leave as confident and accomplished individuals who have realised their full potential.

This is my 11th year as the school’s head teacher and I still adore the Mill. I believe that teaching is a wonderful profession and teaching at the Mill is still a great privilege to me.

I am very excited about the future of the school. The Mill continues to be a very unique and special preparatory school. Ex pupils and parents return to visit us frequently recalling fond memories of their time spent here.

These pages can only give a taste of life at The Mill School and therefore I I look forward to welcoming you to The Mill School."
